“Country-rap pioneer Colt Ford has a message for a divided nation with his next single, “We the People,” and it basically boils down to this: “Times are tough. Come blow off some steam.” Set for its official release tomorrow (May 10th), “We the People” premieres exclusively on Sounds Like Nashville today and marks the first taste of an upcoming album – Ford’s first LP in two years. It was written by Corey Crowder, James McNair and Brandon Kinney with a hell raising country-rock sound and a loud-and-proud theme that lands squarely in Ford’s wheelhouse – but strange times call for drastic measures. All twangy electric guitars, pounding drums and saw-tooth fiddles, the slow rolling chest thumper is definitely about being proud of who you are and where you come from. But despite its title, the track isn’t meant to stoke any political fires or separate people from different walks life. It’s actually an invitation for everyone – no matter where they’re coming from – to let their guard down and join the party.”
