“This song, ‘Country AF,’ I got from Hardy and I thought it had kind of a Jerry Reed feel to it,” states Colt Ford.
“I’m a huge Jerry Reed fan and I wanted to make the song that kind of vibe.”
Written by award-winning, heavy-hitters Michael Hardy, Jaren Johnston and Jesse Frasure, “Country AF” is
true to its name. The track is a honky-tonkin’, boots-to-the-ground anthem that blends Ford’s signature country grit
with Jay Webb’s bold edge, delivering a sound that’s equal parts Southern pride and Saturday-night fire. With lyrics
that lean into small-town values, good times, and living loud, the track is set to become a fan favorite at tailgates,
honky-tonks, and beyond.
“I’d been following this kid on social media named Jay Webb, and I just hit him up,” explains Ford of how the
collaboration came about. “I was like, bro, I like what you do and he hit me back, said he was a fan of me, even
though I was an old man and we just got together because we both just country AF.”
“Man, when Colt Ford reached out to me and hit me up, he had a three-hour phone call with me and said, ‘Man, I
got this song you’d be perfect on,’” recalls Jay Webb. “I couldn’t believe it. We got in a studio. We cut the song. He
sent it to me, and I’ve been bumping it ever since.”
The release of “Country AF” comes on the heels of Ford’s recent string of star-studded collaborations this year, including “Hell Out of It” with Michael Ray, “Shades” with Yelawolf and Bryan Martin, “Dirty” with Creed Fisher, and most recently “Can’t Hide Country” with Tyler Booth, among others.
