A different kind of country music performer is set to take over the Columbia area on Saturday night. Colt Ford’s CD “Ride Through The Country” has shocked country music insiders by rising to #24 on Billboard’s Country Album chart and # 3 on Billboard’s HeatSeaker Chart. The most surprising stat for Ford’s “Ride Through The Country” CD, is that it also peaked at #22 on the Billboard Rap Albums Chart.
That’s right, Colt Ford, just a good ol’ boy from over in Georgia has taken country music and spun it in another direction. With a little help from friends like John Michael Montgomery, Jamey Johnson, and country super-duo Montgomery Gentry, Colt Ford has successfully blended country, rock, rap and R&B. Ford, who at first glance will remind you of a character out of The Dukes Of Hazard, self admittedly states in his song “I Can’t Sing” that he can not sing. Ford’s success comes from his ability to rap the lyrics that he writes about the everyday man.
