Hey Ya'll I hope everyone is doing Good out there. I had a great weekend playing some new places—like Coyote Joes in Charlotte, NC. The crowd was great.  I went to Mid State Mudd Bogg in SC and we threw down. On Monday I got to play at the Navy Base in Jacksonville and that was a HUGE HONOR, getting to play for the men and women and their families that serve our country.

I want ya'll to know I have working hard on a new record. I am really excited about it and I think ya'll will love It.  I couldn't wait till next year for ya'll to hear some new stuff so I got with Wal-Mart and they are gonna let me put out a DVD with a six song EP. It will have “Huntin’ The World,” and “Buck ‘Em” on there and a live version of me and Brantley doing “Dirt Road Anthem.” I got a few new songs also a new NASCAR song called “Left You In The Dust” and a song called “Day In The Life.” I got Andy Griggs to sing on there with me. There will be a few more also.

I think it will be in stores by the beginning of October and the DVD is really cool. It has behind the scenes footage from “No Trash In My Trailer” and “Buck ‘Em” videos and just a ton of other stuff. I will be hard at it finishing the new record and on the road till end of the year. I can't wait to see ya'll soon. Thank you all for everything you have done for me. I am truly blessed to have such great friends and fans.

Ya'll Keep Spittin’ That Country. I know I will for ya'll!

God Bless,

Colt

Twang Nation Music Review-Ride Through The Country

albumTwang Nation Music Review-Ride Through The Country

Are there any more maligned or misunderstood genres of music than hip and country? When asked what kind of music a person likes these two styles are at the top of the excluded list. Now imagine them joining forces in some unholy alliance of country-rap (or as one person I know coined it “crap.”) I can just imagine the exit becoming glutted with the fleeing hordes. Screw ‘em….

I was cruising twitter and came upon several posts/tweets the name of Colt Ford. He’s become sort of surprise dark horse on the both the country and the hip-hop charts . I have a soft spot for both country underdogs so I checked him out.

A different kind of country music performer is set to take over the Columbia area on Saturday night. Colt Ford’s CD “Ride Through The Country” has shocked country music insiders by rising to #24 on Billboard’s Country Album chart and # 3 on Billboard’s HeatSeaker Chart. The most surprising stat for Ford’s “Ride Through The Country” CD, is that it also peaked at #22 on the Billboard Rap Albums Chart.
That’s right, Colt Ford, just a good ol’ boy from over in Georgia has taken country music and spun it in another direction. With a little help from friends like John Michael Montgomery, Jamey Johnson, and country super-duo Montgomery Gentry, Colt Ford has successfully blended country, rock, rap and R&B. Ford, who at first glance will remind you of a character out of The Dukes Of Hazard, self admittedly states in his song “I Can’t Sing” that he can not sing. Ford’s success comes from his ability to rap the lyrics that he writes about the everyday man.
